Whether you are a skeptic or a believer of positive thinking doesn't change the fact that many people have been misled in the teachings of positive thinking. It's a terrible truth, and if I have to shatter the simplistic view of positive thinking and anger you, I'd rather do so than to mislead you.
You see, many people have been saying that you have to create change, think positive
and hold a positive mental attitude. If I could appeal to your logic for just one
moment, think about how a positive mental attitude really works. If you're brought up in a ghetto, being shot at, and seeing almost every one of your best friends die before the age of 25, it would be a really interesting thing to tell you that you need to have a positive mental attitude. Hey, I'd probably be the next person to get shot by you!
What I'm saying is that one of the biggest myths in positive thinking is it works
for everyone. I'm not saying it can't work. I'm saying that you need to have what I'd call a â€Å"moment of realization. In any environment, a pivotal point for change is the exposure to a dream. One day, you might see this car pull up in front of you and you go woah I'd like to have this car, and you realize that the person sitting inside the driver's seat of the car is someone whom you knew to be not as fortunate as you, not as talented as you, nor possibly as intelligent as you.
That's a time where you go wham! it's a moment of realization that you could
have achieved this too. Unfortunately, very few of us are bright enough to take
those realizations to heart. We look around and we make up excuses for other
people's success and for our own zones of comfort. The comfort zone could get so well barricaded that the moment of realization might never penetrate your
unconscious mind.
It is NOT the positive thinking from the inside that initiates the change. Positive
thinking merely SUSTAINS the change. If you want change to get initiated, it usually
begins from an external source. A speaker who motivates you. A story that touches
you. An event that rattles you. All these are moments of realization where you wake up from your old reality and decide to make a choice to move on to a better life, a better reality.
Are you planning to get a better life? Do you have a dream? Was this article a
moment of realization for you? If so, I'd urge you to start looking at a vehicle for positive change.
When you are ready, go to This will probably
contain all the moments of realization that you need in order to initiate positive changes for the rest of your life.
